You do not have to be a member of our branch to attend this course. Those who subsequently decide to join our branch will be assisted in acquiring honeybees and equipment. They will be eligible to request mentoring support in their first year of beekeeping\, and will be encouraged to attend weekly meetings at the branch apiary in order to gain practical experience.

SUMMARY:Preparing for BBKA Basic Assessment
DESCRIPTION:Attendees: Members \nLocation: Eathorpe Village Hall and a local apiary (CV33 9DE)\nCost: £10 (to cover refreshments) \nThis practical course is aimed at beekeepers with at least a year of beekeeping experiencewho are considering taking the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) Basic Assessment. \nThe BBKA Basic is an “over-the-hive” assessment carried out in a branch apiary. This course will help you understand exactly what is expected\, build confidence in handling bees\, and practise the key skills required on the day. \nThe BBKA Basic is very accessible for beekeepers with around a year’s experience\, but  equally valuable for more experienced beekeepers who have never taken the assessment — this could be the year to do it and recognise your skills. \nAs well as practical preparation\, the day offers plenty of opportunity to chat with fellow members\, share tips\, and learn from each other’s beekeeping experiences. \nYou can view the full BBKA Basic Assessment syllabus on the BBKA Member Hub:\nView BBKA Basic Assessment syllabus \n Join here \n  \nWhat to Bring \nParticipants must bring: \n\nA clean bee suit\nClean gloves\nClean wellington boots\nA packed lunch\n\nThis is essential for good biosecurity and for making the most of the full day.
