SUMMARY:Introduction to Beekeeping Course 2026
DESCRIPTION:Attendees: Public \nW&L Beekeepers holds weekend courses in Spring each year\, covering the major basic theory elements of managing honey bees.  The course enables attendees to enjoy looking after their own beehives safely and competently and is a first step in beekeeping. The course complements hands-on training which is available at most of the branches that course participants may wish to join.  Being a Member of Warwick & Leamington Beekeepers is not a pre-requisite to joining our Introduction to Beekeeping Course. \n \nThe next Introduction to Beekeeping Course will take place on: \nSaturday 11th  9.30 am to 5 pm and Sunday 12th April\, 9 am to 4.30 pm \nLimited to 25 participants – Course is now Full \nThe course is aimed at those wishing to start keeping honeybees. You do not have to be a member of our branch to attend this course. Those who subsequently decide to join our branch will be assisted in acquiring honeybees and equipment. They will be eligible to request mentoring support in their first year of beekeeping\, and will be encouraged to attend weekly meetings at the branch apiary in order to gain practical experience.

DESCRIPTION:Attendees: Public \n \nWLBK offer a one day beekeeping taster day for those assessing whether keeping bees is viable in their particular circumstances. Delegates have an opportunity to handle bees (but certainly don’t have to!)\, provided the weather is suitable.  Furthermore\, as well as background information about bees\, the event covers practical considerations such as equipment required\, where to obtain it & costs. We provide information about the annual beekeeping husbandry process\, how much time it takes\, and where bees can be kept. \nOur Taster Day is aimed at giving you an overview of what keeping bees involves thereby helping you decide whether or not you would like to take up this fascinating hobby. \nCovering : \n\nThe honey bee’s characteristics and organisation\nWhat’s inside a hive\nWhere bees can be kept\nThe equipment required\nThe cost and time involved\nWhat the beekeeper has to do throughout the year.\n\nThere is usually\, subject to the weather\, also an opportunity\, to get close to some bees under the supervision of a beekeeper. \n\nPlaces will be limited to 25.\nCost is £50 per person.\n\nBooking now Closed
